WhatsApp Cloud API vs Messaging Platform: What Buyers Miss

Cloud API is a pipe. Most teams still need inbox, campaigns, session ops, and SMS OTP beside it.

API access is not an operations stack

Cloud API (or a BSP) gets messages in and out. It does not automatically give you multi-agent inbox, campaign UI, session health, or branded SMS. Budget for the glue — or buy a platform that already ships it.

When raw Cloud API wins

If you have a strong engineering team, multi-channel product roadmap, and custom CRM deeply embedded, building on Cloud API can be right. You will own templates, webhooks, rate limits, and agent tooling.

When a platform wins

Marketing and support need to run day-to-day without opening tickets to engineering. Shared inbox, template campaigns, delivery logs, and AI-assisted replies shorten time-to-value.

Pakistan and dual-channel reality

Many logins still need SMS OTP. Evaluating only WhatsApp leaves a second vendor for transactional SMS. Prefer stacks that cover both channels under one reporting culture.

Decision checklist

Ask: Who owns template approval? Where do agents work? How do we prove delivery? What happens when a session drops at peak? Who sends OTP? Answers decide Cloud-API-only vs platform.

Where WhattNexus fits

WhattNexus is the operations layer — sessions, inbox, campaigns, SMS/OTP, and APIs — so product and marketing are not rebuilding WhatsApp Web for every hire.
